Hello, I’m Keegan! I’m 11. I love music, warm weather, and waking up every morning (I smile and giggle when someone comes to get me in the morning). I was born with a rare disorder known as Optic Nerve Hpoplasia, this affects my vision (I’m blind) as well as other parts of my brain, including my pituitary gland (I take medications to replace hormones) and other important parts that help with communicating between both sides of the brain and coordinating movement. I also had some newer issues involving a long list of food allergies and eosinophilic esophagitis pop up. Luckily, my mom is really good at reading me and finding out what’s wrong since I’m unable to speak and tell everyone myself. I work really hard in various therapies to learn to be as independent as possible. It’s my mom’s mission to help me reach my fullest potential… I’d settle for slightly less, (it’s hard work you know?) but I go along with it because I’m a chill guy.
Anyway, we are very excited to be a part of this event and receiving money so that I can have a bicycle trailer that will allow my mom and dad to pull me safely and comfortably behind their bicycles. I love the feeling of being on the pavement and bumpy roads, but I don’t so much enjoy the effort required to do so myself. When I was smaller I loved going for rides with my family, and we all miss that time together!
A big heartfelt Thank You to everyone involved!! My family and I appreciate your support!!
